1. Who we are

jewishbayarea.com (the "Site") is operated by Kind.gift ("we," "us," or "our"). The Site is a community reference directory of Jewish services, organizations, and resources across Northern California, maintained by volunteer editors.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

3. Informational use only

The Site is provided for informational and referral purposes. Listings of synagogues, Chabad houses, mikvahs, schools, kosher establishments, and service providers are compiled from publicly available sources and editor knowledge. Inclusion does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee.

You should independently verify any information — including phone numbers, addresses, kashrus certifications, ritual qualifications, and operating hours — before relying on it for important decisions (lifecycle events, kosher consumption, halachic questions, etc.).

4. Editorial standard, no warranty

We label listings as "Approved," "Chabad," "Synagogue," "Pending," or "Listed" to indicate the editorial review status. These labels reflect our editors' best judgment at the time of listing and may be out of date. The Site is provided as is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

5. User submissions

When you submit a listing or correction (e.g., via the "Suggest a listing" form), you grant Kind.gift a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to publish, edit, and distribute the submitted information on the Site. You represent that the submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it.

6. Third-party links and content

The Site links to external websites operated by Chabad houses, synagogues, mikvahs, kosher establishments, and other organizations. We do not control these third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability.

7. Intellectual property

All Site content — original text, design, code, and the directory's curated structure — is the property of Kind.gift and is protected by copyright. The educational notes and "Why this matters" content are licensed for personal, non-commercial use. The underlying directory data (the JSON file at /data/content.json) is offered under a permissive community-use understanding; please credit "Jewish Bay Area" if you reuse it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kind.gift, its officers, editors, contributors, and volunteers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any information found on it.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
