Privacy Policy

Short version: this site collects almost nothing about you. We don't sell your data. We don't use third-party tracking pixels. The only data we hold is what you voluntarily submit through our forms.

1. Who we are

jewishbayarea.com is operated by Kind.gift. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it.

2. What we collect

We collect only:

Information you submit voluntarily — when you use the "Suggest a listing" form, the contact form, or email romankagan@gmail.com, we receive whatever you send (name, email, message, listing details).
Region preference — your selected region (San Francisco, South Bay, etc.) is stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. This never leaves your device.
Standard server logs — our hosting provider records the basic information any web server records (IP address, request time, user-agent) for normal operations and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used to build user profiles.

3. What we do not do

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party advertising/tracking script.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing.
We do not set tracking cookies. The site stores only your region preference in localStorage, which is not a cookie and does not transmit to any server.
We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

4. How we use submitted information

Information you submit through the "Suggest a listing" form is used solely to evaluate, edit, and (if approved) publish the listing on the Site. Your name and contact email are not published unless you explicitly opt in. We may keep submission records for editorial audit purposes.

5. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Third-party links and embedded content

The Site links to external websites (Chabad houses, mikvahs, kosher establishments, etc.). We do not control their privacy practices. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, subject to Google's privacy policy.

7. Your rights

Because we collect almost nothing, there is little to exercise rights over. If you have submitted a listing or correction and want it removed or corrected, email romankagan@gmail.com or use our contact form. California residents have the rights afforded by the CCPA / CPRA — to know, to delete, and to opt out of sale (note: we do not sell data).

8. Data security

The Site is served over HTTPS. We use reasonable technical safeguards for the small amount of submission data we receive, but no internet transmission is 100% secure. Don't send sensitive personal information (medical records, financial information, etc.) through our forms or email.

9. Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
